Have you ever had something on your list that you needed to get done and you kept procrastinating and putting it off?
You put it off so much that it becomes a burden in your life… almost an open wound… but once you sit down and do it you’re so excited that it’s over!
…And then you ask yourself, “Why did I keep putting it off for so long? Am I lazy?” I say not lazy, you just need to learn how to push your reset button.
I’m in the middle of a nutrition certification right now and I know that I need to put in only 30 minutes each day to stay on course,
30 minutes doesn’t seem like very long, so… I keep putting it off but for what? Now I have over 6 hours of cramming to do to make up for just two very busy weeks of skipping study time.
So what do i do? Do I mark off my Sunday and crank out a solid session from it? Will I retain the information the same? Am I a bad person for doing this?
Growing up my coach always told me proper prior planning prevents poor performance.
No! I’m not going to cram for 6 hours! And I am not a bad person! Reset!
I’m going to put in 45 minutes every night instead of 30 minutes and in no time I’ll be able to catch up.
It’s just like working out. When we wake up and we are 30 pounds overweight we want to lose it all in one day… but really it just takes a little bit each day. And it IS ok to work out 3-4 days each week. It does NOT have to be 6 days a week!
If you put in the time soon you’ll be where you need to be. Take a deep breath! You will get there!
Remember Procrastination and laziness aren’t quite the same thing, you need to be willing to overcome any obstacle that comes your way, no matter how hard it may seem.
