Michaelynn Hopkins Storts Gymnastics Coach

Michaelynn is a leader in the field of gymnastics.

She began gymnastics and dance at very young age. She went to the Nationals twice during her gymnastics training. She has coached gymnastics for 20 years, was employed by the city of Lee’s Summit in the parks and recreation department. She taught tumble and fitness classes for children, and was the coordinator for Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation Teen Factor summer program. Job duties included but not limited to maintaining a smooth summer program for teens. Working with the Lee’s Summit Parks and recreation supervisor, she insured the safety of the teens and the integrity of the summer program. Teaching many levels of gymnastics she worked her way up to director at Dave’s Gymnastics. She was employed at Great American Gymnastics express teaching preschool and young team members. Michaelynn managed and owned her own gymnastics club. The club started with approximately 50 students and quickly enrolled and maintained 350 students. Under her ownership she employed 15 people. Michaelynn was able to profit each year. Currently she operates and owns Kid’s First Fitness and Gymnastics. Kid’s First Fitness and Gymnastics promotes health and fitness with a clear emphasis on gymnastics and tumbling. Michaelynn is currently employed with the Lee’s Summit school district in the before and after school program.

Community standing

Michaelynn has lived in Lee’s Summit and attended elementary school, middle school, and high school in Lee’s Summit. She maintains a standard of excellence in her community. Many of her achievements include reaching out to students of all ages and backgrounds, including children with special needs, and home school children. Michaelynn coached an undefeated 2008 Lee’s Summit High School gymnastic season.

Skills and Abilities

Michaelynn is a member of USA Gymnastics. Her certifications are CPR, first aid, Love and Logic, gymnastics safety certification, KAT (Kinder Accreditation for teachers), PDP (Professional Development Program), Professional Skill Evaluator, and lesson plan development. As a member of USA gymnastics, she is able to maintain her certifications and stay on top of the latest trends and coaching methods. Kansas City hosted the world team trials in gymnastics. She worked on this project to insure a smooth qualifying meet. Kansas City hosted the 2006 U.S. Gymnastic Classic. Michaelynn recruited venders for this event and was a part of the planning team. 2011 Michaelynn received B.I.S.T certification (Behavior Intervention Support Team) and CYP certification (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Program).
